PG Diploma in Marketing and Business Psychology
This post-graduate Diploma course in Marketing and Business Psychology has developed alongside the new professional body of the Association of Business Psychologists. The Association was formed in 2000 by a collection of academics and business psychology consultants who felt the need to focus and develop knowledge and skills in ways to benefit both businesses and the people working within businesses. This course represents a novel and interesting academic study area.
The course is designed to demonstrate how the full range of psychological theory and its accompanying techniques can be applied to organisations across all aspects of business life.
In today’s competitive environment, more and more organisations are finding that new business is acquired and effective business maintained through innovation, creativity and an entrepreneurial culture. Organisations are also discovering that effective work requires project teams; individuals and groups must be able to work co-operatively in a variety of situations, both within the company and increasingly in international groupings. Retail Business Psychology is an essential vehicle for achieving these goals through its ability to provide fresh insights and new approaches to problem solving that can be applied at the individual, group or organisational levels.
Psychologists and practising business psychologists designed the course with the aim of developing a student’s theoretical knowledge and practical skills to be used within organisational settings. The theoretical approaches are delivered through lectures, seminars and tutorials, whilst the practical skills are learned through coursework assignments and applied research projects within a placement period. Additionally, many of our lecturers are also practitioners and therefore understand the current needs and demands of the contemporary workplace.
Many of your fellow students will already have work experience or will be currently employed whilst studying the course in part-time mode and this will help add to the diversity of background and experience. This should make for a stimulating and supportive learning environment where students can benefit from each other as much as from more directed learning opportunities.
